As someone who loves to organize and reorganize, I've now started thinking that I want to completely change the order of my poetry volume. You know, right after getting it exactly how I wanted it before. The struggle is real. Anyways, I've been playing with free verse a bit more as of late. Enjoy?
Merlot
What tragedy,
Yearning for that
Which you cannot have.
It consumes
Your every thought,
Ensnares
Every waking minute,
Creeps
Into your blood
Like a fine wine,
Intoxicating
From the inside out -
Delightful
In moderation,
Toxic
At this degree.
To be drunk with want
Is to be as helpless,
Hopeless
As a lush;
Your addiction
To your desires,
To the ache -
It owns you.
Freckles
How envious I am
That the sun may kiss
Your porcelain skin
And forever change
How the world sees you.
To the One I Failed
Reminders of you flood my life,
And, though the wound is now a scar,
Maybe, if I could turn back time,
Before displays of gnashing teeth
Or the dark day I let you go...
Right now could hold a warm embrace,
A lifelong friendship that should be.
Most try to say it's not my fault,
But...all you know is that I left.
One day I hope you forget me.
